Director Daisy Zhou is part of the collective Public Record based in NYC.

Growing up between Shanghai and rural Pennsylvania, the one constant Daisy had in her life was photography & filmmaking. Though she never expected her hobby of creating stop-motion animations with paper boats and cobwebs to lead anywhere, she surprised herself and her family with an admittance to NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts. Her thesis short, “How To Be A Black Panther” took home the audience award at the Brooklyn Film Festival and went on to screen at other festivals across the globe.

After graduating, Daisy concentrated on cinematography, and shot commercial projects for Lincoln, Chanel, Victoria's Secret as well as music videos, fashion films and documentaries for artists including Margaret Zhang, Banks, Mykki Blanco, Cai Guo Qiang, and James Blunt. As a gaffer, one of her proudest works is a collaboration with DP Todd Banhazl for the feature film the Strange Ones, which had its world premiere at SXSW 2017.

Driven by curiosity, passion and determination, Daisy recently directed a commercial short set in the world of Vogue dancing. This caught the attention of Nike New York, who hired her to shoot and direct a new spot featuring transgender international vogue dancer Leiomy Maldonado. The spot premiered ahead of the NYC Pride march in June.
