Trying to pin a specific style or genre of filmmaking to Susanna is pointless, as her work ranges across fly-on-the-wall documentary, period drama, UK situation performance comedy and most recently, documentary style drama with special effects. It is her exceptional skill as a director and fantastic ability to build strong character development that allows her success in such a wide variety of work. She has been described as the British Kathryn Bigelow!
Susanna’s first feature, 'Nanny McPhee and the Big Bang' was released in the UK in March 2010.
Susanna also directed ‘GENERATION KILL’, a $56 million, seven-part HBO miniseries from the creators of ‘THE WIRE’, that was released in the UK in January. The show received massive critical success in the States, with the Washington Post saying "[it] stands among the truest and most trenchant war movies of all time" and “the most authentic depiction of troop life ever to hit the small screen” by Vanity Fair.
With a background in documentary filmmaking that includes BAFTA nominated “THE MUSEUM” (‘Modern Times’) in 1996 and the Emmy nominated “TELL ME THE TRUTH ABOUT LOVE” in 2000, Susanna’s drama credits are no less impressive.
Susanna has most recently shot an action packed commercial for The Royal Marines through the COI which is currently on air and is currently in the USA directing a one off episode of the critically acclaimed series Boardwalk Empire.
