Action Jackson (Jako) is one of Britain’s most acclaimed camera operators, whose speciality is arduous action and period films. These include Ridley Scott’s awards-laden ‘Gladiator’ and ‘Kingdom Of Heaven’.
More recently he has worked on the action sequences for such movies as ‘Casino Royale’ (including that opening crane-fight sequence), ‘Prince of Persia’ and ‘Nottingham’.
As well as shooting for other people, for several years, Jako has been expanding his own directing reel. He recently completed a groundbreaking (multi award-winning) on-line Game for Volvo that involves 4 interactive parallel dramatic narratives. Jako’s experience and knowledge allowed him to undertake the Volvo ‘Rush’ shoot in just 5 days to produce 26 hours of rushes and 40 minutes of on-screen action.
The interactive elements of the game were enhanced using a 3-camera panoramic rig specially designed by Jako and custom built for high-definition cameras.
Jako is currently in post production with a fabulous action packed film for Friskies through DDB London. This and his other recently completed commercials highlight Jako’s penchant for specialist problem-solving photography (especially when applied to action scripts). Subsequently, he has also recently been working with the latest 3D camera rigs.
