Sean Celebrates women's right to drive

Annex Collective director and DOP Sean Thonson’s latest short film ‘Right to Drive’ is a stunning metaphor for the ban on women driving in Saudi Arabia being lifted recently. Visual motifs such as the hood of the falcon being removed add extra poignancy and depth to this beautiful film. When speaking of the project’s origins, Sean explains “My 17-year-old daughter is very active politically, participating in the Women’s March and founded an organisation named This Means W.A.A.R. - Women Against Assault and Rape, and as a passion project I wanted to do something she would get behind.” They had a bit of magic on the shoot and were able to capture the end shot of the Venus sign in camera rather than having to add it in post.
